Late-15th Century German / Gothic Style Sabatons

Size: Medium

Completed: Jan 19, 2003
They are made from C1018 16Ga. mild steel. There are eight (8) parts not
counting the rivits. To hold the sabaton to my shoe I placed a small
ring on the last lame, I tie it with leather to the top of my shoe's.
The only real work on this project is the toe. Work slow on the toe or use heat.
Bend the lames first into place, then chisel the grove last.

Armour Pieces:

I build these sabatons in the following order:

1) cut out the plates
2) punch any holes which are on the patterns
3) finish the plate edges and corners
4) Roll the top edge of the top of the foot part
5) Dish back of the heel of the foot.
6) Bend the plates into place then add a crease down the center of the sabaton
7) Fine tune the articulation
8) Polish the plates
9) Assemble the sabatons
10) Add the straps
