Who's Behind this thing?

My name is David Heirtzler, and I keep this site going because I clearly have way too much time on my hands despite being terribly busy with my work. I recieved a Master's Degree in Physics from the University of New Hampshire in 1999.

Right now I am currently working on the ACE Spacecraft. Here at the University we have designed, fabricated, and tested the SEPICA (Solar Energetic Particle Ionic Charge Analyzer) Instument on the ACE (Advanced Composition Explorer) observatory spacecraft. It was launched successfully on August 25st, 1997, and since, has been sending back Hundreds of megabytes of data every week. That's where I come in. I am currently writing an application which will retreive our data from the raw HDF data files we get from the craft, and display the information in some sort of useful form. All of this has given loads of useful hardware and software experience. As a result, I am currently looking for a job in the programming field in the Portmouth-Dover, NH area.

On August 25th at 10:39 am EST, the ACE spacecraft lauched aboard a Delta II vehicle. I was fortunate enough to be present at the KSC in Cape Canaveral for the event, but here's a glimpse for those who were not.
As far as chainmaille goes, I first became interested when I was exposed to the SCA and REALMS subcultures here at the university. Nothing much came of it until I started to surf the web two years ago and happened upon the Arador Armour Library. Using it as launching pad, I was able to glean enough methods and patterns to make a number of different pieces. From that point on I've been practicing and expanding my skills.

On May 25th, 1996, the most beautiful woman in the world took me for her husband. Her name is Jan Heirtzler and she makes my world complete so I would be remiss to leave her off of this page. Her page, however, can do more to describe her than I can. She loves to stir up trouble (as most intelligent women will) and her site shows it.
She has grown into her skills as a formidable web designer, and now has her own home to show off her work:

On May 22, 2000, My first son was born. His name is Stephen Glenn Lewis Heirtzler, and he is the main reason that this site was down for so long. In my opinion, however, he is well worth it. I though of putting the obligatory cute baby picture up, but instead I think I'll use this one:
